End of the Year Reasoning

Filed under: Site News by Chad at 2:46 pm CST

While everyone else is doing some kind of year in review, I’m not going to mess with writing what stories I feel have been most important during 2004. After all, President Bush was re-elected so that trumps everything else.

What I will do though is to go down my blogroll and explain why I have blogrolled each one of the blogs.

Ace of Spades - Always interesting, rarely informative, but funny in a strange sort of way.

Allah - I actually thought it was the prophet when I blogrolled it and now I can’t figure out why I still have it on there.

Argggh! - Informative site relating to military issues.

Armies of Liberation - Jane is a great writer and her posts are enlightening.

Backcountry Conservative - Being a sports fan too doesn’t hurt Jeff’s chances on my list of daily reads.

Belmont Club - Thought provoking posts and always seems to have been updated within the past hour. I smell a hack.

Blackfive- Always brings up military issues in relation to helping out our troops.

Blogs for Bush - Good set of writers and I voted for Bush. Why not support a blog who advocated the same?

Blogs of War - Fellow Texan so he must be supported. Oh, by the way, he also runs a tight ship.

Captain’s Quarters - Ed seems to get the beat on many stories no one else finds, though he could lose the Minnesota ones if it were up to me.

Chrenkoff - Good news from Iraq = Enough said

Citizen Smash - Another blog centering on our military, but one of the better ones out there.

Consternations - Another fellow Texan and an outstanding writer. I just wish Preston blogged more.

David Limbaugh - Inciteful with many posts concerning religion and society, which is something my limited knowledge eats up.

Dean’s World - Something about a reformed Liberal just fascinates me.

Digger’s Realm - Even though Dan gets his news from this site, or so it always seems, I still read his blog for his crusade on immigration issues.

Dummocrats - The name just cracks me up.

Hugh Hewitt - Hewitt scored all three presidential debates in Bush’s favor. Despite that I still find his commentary well merited.

Hyscience - This is a fairly new blog to me, but it’s a great read. If you can get past the banner, you are in for a treat.

In Search of Utopia - David, my arch enemy, is actually a nice guy once you get past the fact he is wrong on almost every single issue. ISOU used to keep me grounded, now it just keeps me entertained.

INDC Journal - Bill seems to have been burned out from the political season, but when he comes back for good his blog will once again be the place to be.

Instapundit - I’ve yet to recieve an Instalanch so this one might be going to the wayside.

Jihad Watch - Great blog concerning terrorism with very little commentary to let readers decide what is right versus what is wrong.

Martini Pundit - Once I finally got high-speed, I could actually load his page without having to wait 10 minutes. Good writer though.

Michelle Malkin - Always interesting, always opinionated and has always maintained a professionalism rarely found in the blogosphere.

My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy - She’s getting 99% of her hits from some pyramid scheme, which doesn’t do her site justice.

The Jawa Report - Rusty and I seem to be eye and eye on almost everything concerning terrorism. It’s great to have a peer fighting for the same cause.

Our Life - Chris is extremely nice and writes a pretty darn good blog too.

Outside the Beltway - I love those caption contests, though I’ve never won. Is it possible I’m not as witty as I think I am?

Petrified Truth - Very insightful blog.

Poliblog - Steven is a talented professor of political science who understands the workings of the politcal world far better than any other blogger around.

Political Musings - Chris is a great writer whose site doesn’t get the respect it deserves.

Power Line - Despite the Minnesota references, the folks at Power Line write an amazing blog worthy of anyone to read daily.

Professor Chaos - Leopold writes a good blog, but doesn’t write as much as I wish he would. Very interesting perspectives.

Professor Bainbridge - An economics professor who blogs on our economy.

Protein Wisdom - Every time I go there I find something to laugh at. The Martha Stewart chronicles are great.

QandO - News and views from a Libertarian, which before I read more of QandO I thought Libertarianism was more of a mixed breed.

Rambling’s Journal - Inciteful writer who always seems to find stories in Atlanta that even a Texan could enjoy.

Redstate - Great blog and community.

Right on Red - Johnny is actually on a hiatus, however when he’s around he seems to be able to mix music with politics. While his music tastes are interesting to say the least, it’s an odd combination that makes reading Right on Red funny yet informative.

Right Voices - RV has some of the best commentary out there concerning Republican politics.

Right Wing News - I simply do not know how anyone finds the time to dig through the trenches and find the most obscure news items as are found on Right Wing News.

Say Anything - Say Anything is an unusual blog in the fact that no topic is taboo and Rob must be attacked more than any other blog author around. Yet he still holds his ground on topics of interest and maintains professionalism as well as somehow keeps his cool.

Six Meat Buffet - I’m not sure if Preston is trying to put out a humorous blog or not, but his writings keep me laughing. Only if he could keep those hotdogs away from his permalinks.

Slant Point - There is something about a Republican in New York that makes me want to read this blog.

Speed of Thought - Always has a good round-up of news which makes Speed of Thought a daily read.

The American Mind - Another Yankee Republican, though from the state of Wisconsin. I can get past his obsession with the Packers only because he is a great writer.

The Command Post - Your one-stop shop for news without a large amount of commentary.

The Corner - I subscribe to National Review so why not read the blog?

The Daily Demarche and The Diplomad - I grouped these two together because they both are written by employees of the State Department and offer a great deal of insight into the news behind the news.

The Daily Recycler - I don’t know how The Daily Recycler gets video of almost every single newsworthy event on television, but they do.

The Kerry Spot - Offered some of the best election coverage, but Jim needs to rename his blog. Kerry’s over, at least until 2008.

The Moderate Voice - I just can’t help but read this blog because it is so good and the writer is a ventriliquist. The odd combination works.

The MUSC Tiger - Good blog that has improved every single day since it was started.

The Politburo Diktat - This is the only blog I read who has taken a full renovation of news to fit a Communist agenda. There is no other blog I know of that transforms both graphics and wording to fit the theme of the blog.

The Politicker - Seattle area blogger who has climed out of the depths of environmentalists and trying to squeeze back into Jesusland.

The Shape of Days - Jeff writes a great blog and had great Survivor recaps.

The Spoons Experience - Very informative blog and never afraid of a confrontation.

Tim Blair - Australian blogger who shares news of events down under. I have a great deal of admiration for our Australian allies and Tim helps me keep alert of things in Australia.

Voices in my Head - Great blog from a fellow Dallas-ite. In fact, he even works with one of my family members.

Wes Roth - Very ambitious blogger who has started a competitive site to Drudge. He only needs the views, however right now his site is much better designed and updated that Drudge’s has ever been.

WizBang - With three talented writers, you get the professionalism of Kevin, the bomb throwing of Paul and the personal stories of Jay Tea. All three make WizBang a must-read.

Young Pundit - A very new blog, but on the way up and recently added to my daily reads.

That wraps up my daily read blogroll. I also have a blogroll on the right side of my site in which I read at least once a week. There are just too many good sites out there so I have tried to surround myself with good people sometimes over quality of work. Writing can always improve, but kindness and professionalism cannot.

I would be remiss to not mention Skeet, Skeet, Skeet. Skeet is written by a Canadian and is fast becomming a daily read of mine. Then you have Cranky Neocon which falls into the category of a very nice writer as well as a great blog.

I however must stop here. As I’ve stated before, anyone who wishes to trade links to their blog, just email me.

Thanks for stopping by Reilly. Right Voices was included because you do quality work.

Oh and by the way, the list did take a very long time and towards the end my comments got shorter and shorter because of it.

You are TOO kind! And yes, my hits lately have been pathetic. Chalk that up to my laziness and complete lack of inspiration–I can’t possibly write more on the stuff that matters than you and Rusty already do. Sooner or later I’ll be just posting link dumps with a comment like “Islamofascists are at it again. Go read what Chad wrote.”

I’m honored to be on your blogroll– thanks!!!

Thanks so much and a Happy New Year. I appreciate your comments more than you may imagine.

Our blogrolls are quite similiar: good taste I suppose. Thank goodness for you and all the great blogs. I’d be lost without you guys.

Let me translate this for everyone else out there…

“I steal all my stories from Rusty, who gets them from his Secret Pet Jawa, and then I sit around and bitch that Digger is stealing from me!!!!”

Heh. Actually that line was more of a joke since I’ve been guest blogging over there for over a week. I know, I was the only one who got the joke, but I was laughing when I wrote it.

Haha! Actually Dan I’ve been copying posts from my site to paste on Rusty’s the past week plus. I like the setup of WP over MT for posting.
