Photos of Nicholas Berg’s Body Appear

Filed under: Terrorism by Chad at 8:08 pm UTC

Most Americans remember the Nicholas Berg beheading as it awakened many of us to the depravity of the terrorists in Iraq. Most of us have seen the video, heard the sound clips and feel sorry for the Berg family. What we have not done though is seen how U.S. soldiers found the body of Nicholas Berg.

The decapitated body of Nicholas Berg was found at a highway overpass in Baghdad on May 8, 2004. A posting on a radical Islamic message board yesterday (April 8, 2005) showed four pictures of Berg’s body as it was found by U.S. soldiers. In an effort to help my readers better understand what kind of animals we are dealing with, I present the photos below.

Update:
I have recieved word from one of the United States soldiers who was present at the finding of Berg’s body. His account, in its entirety, is posted below.

Update:
A soldier’s account.

Well that day stays with me forever… It was just a regular patrol in Baghdad, when are patrol heard a large explosion… We moved to the location of the explosion to see if any convoys or another patrol was hit… We noticed nothing untill rolling up to the bridge when we noticed a body hanging by its feet… It seemed real odd and looked faked when we past it, so we can insure there was no booby traps or road side bombs… When we had the area secured a fellow soldier and I moved in with gloves and a body bag, while another soldier went ontop of the bridge to cut the body down… We where there no longer then 5 minutes untill Iraqi Police arrived at the seen… When we identified that the body was an American we called are Quick Reaction Force(QRF) to move in and take the body… When they arived, about 15 minutes later, we where ambushed… We recieved missed mortar attack and RPG’s at the Bradley’s that where with us… After QRF had taking the body, we moved out of the kill zone and back to base to fill out paper work, to later find out the story of Nick Berg…………….. That day was one of many that I have been through and will not forget

Thank you again for your service and thank you for your account.

Is it too bad of me to hope that the slime devils who did this were killed after receiving gut shots in the Fallujah battle?

People who take hostages and kill civilians are indeed ‘depraved’.

But what I remember most about the Berg killing is this: that orange jumpsuit he was wearing. Why did he have on an orange jumpsuit? One that looks exactly like the ones Americans put on their prisoners in Iraq? Did the “terrorists” who killed Berg order their hostage jumpsuits out of the same catalog?

Most people who bothered to watch the video of his beheading noticed the apparent lack of blood — I mean, you’d expect it to be gushing out as arterial pressure is quite high, and in severing someone’s head you cut through a rather big artery.

I think it’s pretty well established at this point that Berg was once in the custody of US forces in Iraq, and they lied about it afterward. Why?

There were other oddities about the Berg killing; it isn’t too difficult to dig up find info about it.

If you manage to explain them, you’ll be the first.

    1. Orange Jumpsuit – As we’ve seen with other Al Qaida hostages who have had the same fate as Berg, they were wearing orange jumpsuits. Orange, by the way, is a taboo color is Islam.

    2. Blood – I’m not a doctor, but I can reveal something that we have learned about the floors of these slaughterhouses. They are filled with sand, reeds and covered with blankets. As absorbent as sand is, that might be your answer.

    3. U.S. Custody – I’ve never heard U.S. officials lie about it. In fact, I’ve heard the U.S. military come out and say he was interrogated.

Now I’ve got a question for you, ‘X’. Name one good reason why the U.S. would take Nicholas Berg and kill him in such a way other than the standard “to deflect blame from Abu Ghraib.” Also, care to explain why the 45 or so other beheading videos are almost identical to this one? Do you believe that the United States has beheaded that many people because of the Abu Ghraib scandal?

Oh, and Oino, it is believed that it was Abu Musab al-Zarqawi who did the reading and the actual beheading and of course he’s still alive. As far as the others, some of the men who were reportedly Al Qaida in Iraq executioners have been killed. Whether or not these specific men have been killed or not I’m not sure. I wish they were though.

“to deflect blame from Abu Ghraib”

Why isn’t this a good enough reason? As a reason it’s a lot better than your (rather lame) explanation of why Berg was wearing an orange jumpsuit that looks just like the ones the US puts on its prisoners.

BTW, it’s impossible — one would think, but w/ this administration and its see-no-wrongdoing supporters, you never really know — to “deflect blame”; isn’t it obvious who is to blame? Perhaps it is better to say to deflect attention, and get it back where at least some of it belongs — on the heinous acts of the “terrorists”. (Not all people fighting the US invasion & occupation in Iraq are “terrorists” — but some definitely are.)

What does sand on the floor have to do with a lack of spurting blood from a (supposedly) just severed carotid artery?

It’s not difficult to find material on the internet detailing the who and where and who said what about Berg in custody:

    http://www.richardneville.com/Journal/2004/journal310504.html

As *with every other attempted explanation*, yours is not convincing at all.

Let me be clear about this: I am not saying I know what happened, or that I have the answers to these questions (and others) about the Berg murder.

And it’s obvious that neither do you.

    “Moonbat Alert!”

I have never claimed to have all of the answers however I’ll clarify a little more on what I said earlier.

The orange jumpsuit which has been the identical jumpsuit worn by hostages of many nationalities before and after Nicholas Berg symbolizes two things; taboo (Muslims consider orange demeaning) and Muslim prisoners. It was just as much a political message as it was horrendous murder.

As blurry as the video was and considering the camera never panned in for a close shot of Berg’s neck, not to mention there were people standing around Berg, when the first cuts were administered I find it extremely hard to tell whether or not blood was “spurting” or not. No, there was not a pool of blood which the floor of the slaughterhouses would soak up. If there is an absorbant floor, which we now know there most likely was, blood would not pool but it would be absorbed into the layers of sand, reeds and cloth below the victim.

Abu Ghraib never was and still is not a big scandal in which you seem to make it out to be. You seem to be advocating U.S. officials at some capacity intentionally killed Berg. Again, I ask what makes you think this? Also, you never answered my questions as to why this video is almost identical to other videos. Do you believe every hostage killed in Iraq has been killed at the hands of the evil Bush Administration and it’s “see-no-wrongdoing supporters?”

I must assume this is the first time you’ve visited my site and I do thank you for your patronage, however if you stuck around you might see that even those who voted for Bush can be critical of him. If you look at the facts in this case and take the several other beheadings almost identical in nature to this one, there is no other conclusion to make other than what appeared to happen in the video did indeed happen.

As I do believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I have not tried to pursuade your or anyone else’s opinion in this matter. There are facts behind this case and the other beheadings radical Islamic groups have carried out though that weigh heavily into the favor of what I said above. If you choose to believe it’s all a conspiracy, that’s fine. You’re entitled.

X, you are an idiot. You don’t “get” the orange jumpsuit? Please. They show the Guantanamo prisoners in the orange jumpsuits in the Danny Pearl video – they hadn’t come up with the idea yet to put the decapitation victim in one, because Pearl isn’t in one and you can tell he ws dead when they were cutting his head off. He also had the same torture marks on his torso as Berg. Sure, their are obvious edits on the Berg video and it appears they may have killed him first before they did the actual beheading. They can’t show when the person tells them to fuck off or Berg may have even known some of their names and said them, so they have to edit it to make it seem as if they were fully in charge. Pearl was in Pakistan even before Abu Ghraib, Paul Johnson was in an orange jumpsuit and that was in Saudi Arabia. So Americans in Saudi Arabia beheaded Paul Johnson in an orange jumpsuit? Come on. Another popular theory is that Berg was beheaded at Abu Ghraib – if you look close at the walls of the prison, they are painted cinder blocks, not a flat wall as seen in the videos – plus, they found the slaughterhouses in Fallujah. Not to mention Berg’s connection to Moussaui in Oklahoma. The U.S. didn’t kill Berg – he was killed because he was a Jew in a country of Jew Haters.
