The Jawa Report writes of warnings of an impending suicide bomber attack in Denmark. The cause? Danish cartoons that do not depict Islam or Mohammed in the highest regard, viewable here.
Saudi stores have boycotted Danish stores because of these cartoons. A Danish trade group has challenged the newspaper which ran the cartoons. Iraqis protested against the cartoons. Saudi Arabia withdrew its ambassador to Denmark over the cartoons. The newspaper which ran the cartoons has received death threats. The Muslim World League has called for the United Nations to “to activate international laws against insolence of religions.” Ambassadors from 11 Muslim nations have asked to speak to Danish leaders to ask for a censure of the newspaper which ran the cartoons.
All of this over some stupid political cartoons, some of which were fabricated and not even printed in the newspaper. Can anyone imagine if similar cartoons depicted any other religion in such a way, assuming the cartoons were derogatory in the first place, what reaction would have unfolded? Actually, there have been similar occurences and I don’t recall hearing anything about suicide bombing threats or nation-wide boycotts.

Today there were Muslims calling for the head of those who dared to mock the prophet Mohamed in cartoons. How often is Jesus Christ, who Christians hold as the Son of God and Savior, been caraciturized and joked about throughout modern literature and in cartoons, television, movies etc. Thousands, possibly millions of times, and still no one has lost a head. Anyone who presumes a beheading is a just reward for insensitive political cartoons has already lost his own.
