The Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten has apologized, sort of.
In a lengthy statement the editor-in-chief of Jyllands-Posten admitted that the 12 cartoons, one of which depicted Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban, had caused “serious misunderstandings”. Carsten Juste said: “The 12 cartoons … were not intended to be offensive, nor were they at variance with Danish law, but they have indisputably offended many Muslims, for which we apologise.”
Yes, there is an apology, but the statement is an apology to those offended, not that Jyllands-Posten ever published the cartoons in the first place. Why do we as a society feel the need to apologize when someone gets offended? I get offended when I get cut off while driving, yet I don’t demand an apology.
Stephen Spruiell writing in NRO’s The Media Blog this apology came after three days of attacks on the newspaper.
So Islamic terrorists get a newspaper to apologize for criticizing Islamic terrorism by threatening to carry out more acts of terrorism in the name of Islam. In what other situation could an aggrieved group wring an apology out of a critic by engaging in more of the criticized behavior?
Where’s the apology from Hamas for threatening violence against the EU for offending the cartoonists of Jyllands-Posten?
Many of those whom are condemning the cartoons make the claim Muhammed is not to be drawn, but Zombietime shows us Muhammed has been drawn centuries-over, yet there wasn’t a call for jihad when Iranians painted Muhammed.
Anthony Browne, a correspondent with The London Times, spent some time with the staff at Jyllands-Posten.
“The people I’ve spoken to today said the cartoons just welcomed Muhammad to the beloved Danish tradition of satirical humour. They are absolutely clear they will not apologise,” said Browne. “They said the Prophet received the same treatment that Christians and Christ would get from cartoonists and that it would be wrong to treat Islam any differently from other religions.”
Exactly and bravo.

Freedom of speech should not be used as a tool to hurt the feelings and beliefs of others. Two wrongs does not make one right.
Just remember terrorism has no cast or creed.

It really makes me sad when i read these kind of things in this modern world,we talk about “freedom of speech” without thinking about others feelings and sentiments. We should respect others faith because both WITH FAITH and WITHOUT FAITH give us identity. If all the muslims are terrorists then 1.3 billions muslims can kill 1.3 billions on an average which is not possible.Media should act as a bridge for harmony not a catalyst in speading hatred.Guilty must be punished by the respective goverments.

Understanding profit Mohammad and the real value of what he did for the humanity is not the mistake of the western world people it is the mistake of the Muslim people in the world whom they did not explain the glory of this man and what he did for mankind. The actions taken by some Muslim people has no relation to profit Muhammad (those people do not believe in the profit or Islam providing that they are Muslim).
Islam as a religion and profit Mohammad as a profit are the title of love and peace

Razaul:
The “guilty must be punished by the respective governments”??? No, and hell no.
We in the West don’t care what you believe about Muhammad–you will *not* force us to “respect” a historical figure just because YOU believe him to have been a “prophet”. The West has free speech rights that allow us to question (and even mock) religions and religious leaders. If you and other Muslims are not happy with that, you are free to return to whatever Muslim country you came from–you have ZERO right to force us to do anything.

Zubair:
Apparently terrorism has the “cast and creed” of Muslims any time us “infidels” attempt to exercise our rights to free speech.

Dear Crusader, I’m proud to be a muslim as you may be a proud Cristian or a Jew. And I wish you a very prosperous life in this world and hereafter. Let PEACE and LOVE prevail against war and hatred.

Without a doubt, mocking Mohammad (peace be upon him)in cartoons does not dimnish his respect a bit for who he is in the sight of Allah and his followers. He is and will remain as one of the greatest in mainkind history.
