Document Captured with Zarqawi Blooper Reel

Filed under: Media and Terrorism by Chad at 2:11 pm UTC

CENTCOM has translated and released some of the documents that were captured with the Zarqawi blooper reel that you can watch in full HERE.  Included in the documents were Al Qaida in Iraq plans, critiques and problems.

From the translation:

The strength of the brothers in Baghdad is built mainly on booby trapped cars, and most of the mujahidin groups in Baghdad are generally groups of assassin without any organized military capabilities.

There is a clear  absence of organization among the groups of the brothers in Baghdad, whether at the leadership level in Baghdad, the brigade leaders, or their groups therein.  Coordination among them is very difficult, which appears clearly when the group undertake a join operations.

The policy followed by the brothers in Baghdad is a media oriented policy without a clear comprehensive plan to capture an area or an enemy center. Other word, the significance of the strategy of their work is to show in the media that the American and the government do not control the situation and there is resistance against them.  This policy dragged us to the type of operations that are attracted to the media, and we go to the streets from time to time for more possible noisy operations which follow the same direction.

Naturally I found the part about why AQ in Iraq launches the types of strikes they do most interesting.  It has been clear for three years that AQ in Iraq cannot and will not fight this war in a conventional sense, but rather they are waging their war on our front pages.  Well, this is the history of radical Islamic terrorism post-Munich.

Oh, but there’s more on how the group uses and understands the role of today’s media.

The role that the Islamic party and the Islamic Scholars Committee play in numbing the Sunni people through the media is a dangerous role.  It has been proven from the course of the events that the American investment in the Party and the Committee were not in vain.  In spite of  the gravity of the events, they were able to calm down the Sunni people, justify the enemy deeds, and give the enemy the opportunity to do more work without any recourse and supervision. This situation stemmed from two matters:

First, their media power is presented by their special radio and TV stations as the sole Sunni information source, coupled with our weak media which is confined mainly to the Internet, without a flyer or newspaper to present these events.

While AQ in Iraq’s media influence in terms of what they can produce is limited, the group’s operations have a huge impact on how the state of affairs in Iraq is reported.

There’s more to the translation than I have provided including details of some of the group’s military commanders not having the experience needed to effectively wage the jihad they wish to.  This raid proved to be very valuable not only because of the documents obtained, but because the U.S. military found the blooper reel of Zarqawi that shows him as a bumbling idiot.

On that note, Mohammed at Iraq the Model wrote of a conversation he overheard and was a part of while getting a hair cut.  A key excerpt:

“Look at him, he was so thin when he first came into Iraq and now he looks like a bull! He must be feeding on a sheep everyday. Do you really believe this man lives in the desert??” one remark was “no, he’s under American protection, they brought him in a helicopter to the desert to shoot this video then he was flown back to a palace. No idiot can believe that America with all the technology and power cannot spot him” another guy added.

“You see that, all his weapons are US made, isn’t this enough proof that he’s backed by the Americans? Er, by the way they say he’s in Yusifiya now, right?” Of course this contradicts the former theory of a green zone palace but it passed without objections and the other guy just said “yes! This is how the Americans do it, every time they want to destroy an area they send in Zarqawi so they can justify their operations.

Why would the United States wish to destroy a market, an Iraq police recrutiing station or a government office?  All must operate to help Iraq out, and that is the ultimate goal here.

So while we look at Zarqawi fumbling with American weaponry, and we’ll point out again that analysts claim this was done to incite the U.S. military, while running through the sand dunes in New Balance tennis shoes (made by the Infidel they were), just remember that there are conspiracy nuts everywhere.  The blooper reel should have caused people to laugh at someone at least some people greatly admire, but at least in one barbershop in Baghdad, it’s fueled conspiracies without any logic behind them.

Digg It!
