Dallas Freaks Out for Chance of Ice

Filed under: Uncategorized by Chad at 10:23 pm CST

This is one reason why I don’t like this part of Texas that I live in (Dallas).  We’re supposed to get an ice storm sometime over the night, and every news station is acting like the ice will carry small nuclear bombs.  Reporters are throughout the area reporting on the weather conditions and one school district has already announced a delayed start time for tommorow.

Right now only rain has fallen, and it has been in the 70s the past few days so good luck sticking to the ground if there is any ice coming.  These television reporters are claiming it’s in the 30s now, but I just walked outside in shorts and sandals and it doesn’t feel that cold to me.

But it’s hysteria in Dallas when there’s even the slightest chance there will be ice on the roads.  People freak out like they’ll be trapped inside their homes for weeks at a time.  This would be the absolute worst time to go grocery shopping, as there won’t be anything on the shelves.

So now, our non-Dallas readers know what it’s like to live in Dallas during the winter.  The storm is already being dubbed the “Artic Blast,” and I hear they are already working on a movie for it.

Digg It!

Oh come now, it hardly seems to be a freak-out.
It’s just that most real Texans only want ice in their tea, their ice cream maker, or in the cooler. Not on the roads…or God Forbid, in a rink.

Have you tried to go to the grocery store? There’s no point as there is literally no food on the shelves. The ice-o-phobic Dallas population cleaned it out last night.

I actually stopped by TomThumb yesterday evening, to get a few things. It wasn’t very busy, and nothing seemed unusual, except the bread aisle. It had been gone over pretty good, but other than that, all was fine. They even had a good supply of firewood out front.
I stayed home today, except for one run to the bank, and to get gas. It was blowing snow, but the roads were still in good shape, and lot’s of traffic.
We don’t get this c*#p very often, thankfully.

The stores in my area were hit pretty hard last night. And no, we don’t get this type of weather that often, but I love it. I’ve always felt I was better suited for a colder climate. Now that I’m relaxing, I’m sitting here in a t-shirt and shorts, flipping on my sandals to go get the mail.

What 25 degree weather and blowing snow? Pffft.

I don’t mind the temp, whether it is over 100 or below freezing, as long as there isn’t any c*#p falling from the clouds. I’ve got all the ice I need in my mug of sweet iced tea.
I was thinking of going to Texas Stadium Friday night for a high school playoff game, Texarkana High vs. Copperas Cove, but I think sitting in that dirty, drafty stadium, with 20 degree weather, for two schools I have no connection to, just to see Texas Highs 6′7″ QB slice and dice another defense, is no longer on my list of wants.

The QB you speak of is amazing, or so I hear. A full ride to Michigan and he sliced and diced Highland Park last week despite what my cousin playing safety could do. Since you love high school football, I’d think it would be worth it, but that’s your call of course.

I hope to get to see TexHigh play, before the playoffs are over. Tonight, I will stay in the comfort of my home, and watch UofH play USM in the Conference USA Championship game.
Once Mallett goes off to UM, I will never see him play again…unless he plays a team I like. I hate it when the best players from Texas go out of state.
