I haven’t been watching the state of the union speech, but I turned into it at a commercial break. I don’t mean to be rude, but what is wrong with Nancy Pelosi?
I have never, ever seen someone blink their eyes as much as she does nor move her mouth around as much as she is in such a short span of time. Either she’s chewing gum or she just recently got a toungue ring. Her eyelashes were sending signals to those in the crowd similar to how ships communicate without radio.
UPDATE: Through the number of visitors to this specific post looking up Pelosi and either blink or mouth, it seems we weren’t the only ones who noticed this rather strange habit. And I assume it’s a habit rather than something actually wrong with her, otherwise I’ll feel like a jackass.

I’m watching the State of the Union as well, and after 10 minutes, I started Googling “Nancy Pelosi” AND blinks to see if anyone else notices — because DAMN, she blinks a LOT.
Would someone get this woman some eye drops?

I noticed the gum chewing too. Regardless of her politics the national televised State of Union address just isn’t the place. She also pushes her head toward Bush whenever she was out of the video frame. Poor judgment and shades of Narcissism!

I agree with both of you. I was watching the NHL skills competition and clicked over, but there’s no way I could have watched that whole speech through Bush’s ‘Bushisms’ and Pelosi blinking like it’s going out of style. Then on Bush’s right there’s Cheney looking at times like he’s having . . . stomach issues.
It was just weird.

What really sickened me was whenever they would flash the camera at Her Royal Thighness, the junior Senator from NY. What was with that shtoopid smile?

I find your obsevation interesting. I read somewhere that a person who is lying will not look you in the eye and their eyes will blink more than is common. Could your observations be saying something about what Ms. Pelosi is saying. Something like she does not believe in what she is saying.

Well she wasn’t speaking therefore if you recall well what you read, and if that is accurate of course, her eyes blinking repeatedly would not have been due to her lying. Or at least the perception thereof. Maybe she felt President Bush was lying and went on blinker control?
I have seen some of her press conferences previously, but I had not noticed the blinking before to the extent of last night. Then again, those press conferences I had seen where shown in news telecasts therefore very brief. She was blinking in those, but since she wasn’t speaking last night and her eyelids were going crazy, I assume it’s just some sort of habit.
Again, if it’s a medical condition I’ll feel horrible for pointing it out.
By the way, how are you Uncle Brian?

Pelosi definitely has some kind of neuro-muscular disorder going on - her eyes are too open, her speech is disjointed, no poise or confidence, face and neck is strained. Maybe the onset of Huntingtons or Parkinsons.
She’s definitely looks like she’s a victim in the Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
