The main, and really only, reason why I switched hosts was because I want to start hosting my own videos without using YouTube. My old host, which I loved dearly by the way, only allowed a certain limit on storage capacity and each video eats well into that limit. Heck, I was practically at that limit before any videos.
But I wanted to leave YouTube because I fear they will cancel my account at any time because I have criticized Islamism. You see, YouTube has become a playground for Islamists to spread their propoganda, but the governing staff at YouTube sees fit to censor or cut out content that is critical of either Islamism or Islam. Yes, it’s a double standard and it’s one that we’ve seen countless times over in numerous media outlets, but it’s completely out of our control as Google, the owner of YouTube, is a business who can make whatever business decisions they see fit.
Another such YouTube selective censorship occured with an outspoken athiest who has created and uploaded videos criticizing Christianity. When this YouTube user turned to Islam, YouTube said, “thanks, but no thanks.”
The Google property has recently banned the popular atheist commentator Nick Gisburne. Gisburne had been posting videos with logical arguments against Christian beliefs; but when he turned his attention to Islam (mirror of Gisburne’s video by another user), YouTube pulled the plug, saying: ‘After being flagged by members of the YouTube community, and reviewed by YouTube staff, the video below has been removed due to its inappropriate nature. Due to your repeated attempts to upload inappropriate videos, your account now been permanently disabled, and your videos have been taken down.’
Meanwhile, you can search YouTube for scenes of carnage from the vantage point of any number of radical Islamic terrorist groups along with public declarations from Islamists criticizing every religion other than Islam. More information HERE.
Why the double standard? I sincerely feel it’s due to fear rather than any other reason. It’s the knowledge that Christians don’t just go ‘jihad’ on you for criticizing their faith, but Islamists actually do; they coined the term ‘jihad’ partially for that very reason. It’s the same type thing that we’ve seen over and over, be it a dozen silly cartoons, a play canceled in Germany or a centuries-old festival in Spain. And it’s getting worse.
Due to this fear, we are losing our free speech rights because they are being curtailed from the businesses we as consumers use. I don’t share that fear, nor do I believe anyone else should for that matter, and that’s why I will self-host future vidoes that are critical of anything I choose, be it politicians or the ‘taboo’ subject of Islamism. There is a difference between Islam and Islamism, and one that no one should be afraid to point out, and I will continue to try my best at exposing the plague that is Islamism without concern suits at Google yank my rights to do so.
