Al Qaida in the Peninsula (Saudi Arabia) released an online ‘order’ to attack Canadian oil refineries and wells to strike a blow to industrial nations, “and on top (of) them, the United States,” reports the Regina Leader-Post.

An online message, posted Tuesday by the Al-Qaida Organization in the Arabian Peninsula, declares “we should strike petroleum interests in all areas which supply the United States … like Canada,” the No. 1 exporter of oil and gas to the U.S.

A feature article, entitled “Bin Laden’s Oil Weapon,” encourages operatives to continue to follow earlier directives from bin Laden to strike oil targets not only in Saudi Arabia, but elsewhere, according to a translation by the SITE Institute, a non-profit U.S. group that monitors terrorist Web sites.

Three western countries are mentioned in the call-to-arms. Canada is listed first, followed by Mexico and Venezuela. Would-be attackers are instructed to specifically target oilfields, pipelines, loading platforms, and carriers.

Venezueala, heh. I think it’s safe to say whoever posted this threat nonsense didn’t get the memo of Hugo Chavez’s leftist alliance with Islamism.

Sorry, I rank this threat right up there with much of the chatter I used to see all the time when I looked on jihadi message boards, which is to say it’s just some Islamist dork sitting at his computer throwing out ideas. This dork sitting at this computer doesn’t read much into it.

Why would Al Qaida in the Peninsula wish to attack oil facilities all the way across the globe when they could attack them in Saudi Arabia? The group has claimed credit for one attack, a foiled attack when the jihadists became trigger happy suicide car bombers missing their chance to lose their virginity, but the group has been around for at least two years. One attack in two years and they’re ready to branch out to another hemisphere? Their boat would blow up in the middle of the Atlantic.

Attacking Saudi oil refineries would be hitting two birds with one stone. Not only would they damage the oil trade which in turn would damage those same industrial nations they seem to hate, but it would also deal a blow to the Saudi Royal Family whom Osama bin Laden has deemed needs to be replaced. You see, it seems OBL has stopped receiving his Saudi social security check.
