Rosie O’Donnell on ‘The View’ said the most intelligent thing she has ever said, but for different reasons than she believes.
ROSIE O’DONNELL, “THE VIEW” HOST: “But I just think, this man for whatever he did or didn’t do, he is not the be all, end all of terrorism in America. And our government has not found the answer in this one way [unintelligible].”
This is regarding the military tribunal for Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, and indeed Mohammad is not the “be all, end all of terrorism.” He’s a very important piece to taking out the strategic capability of Al Qaida, but he has never been one who spreads the ideology anywhere near with the success as so many others do and have.
Other than the rather useless statements regarding whether Mohammad was tortured (I’ve stated it before and I’ll do it again: I don’t care), O’Donnell seems to live in the world view that believes Islamism is not an ideology, that you can combat any threat faced by simply taking out Osama bin Laden.
Indeed capturing or killing OBL would make a good dent in the movement in terms of both spreading the ideology and its strategic capabilities, but he too would not be the “end all of terrorism. But that is O’Donnell’s suggestion in her statements that the United States has not captured other high-ranking Al Qaida officials. They have, but not the two who lead the organization, but many of the group’s planners have been rounded up.
Of course those voids in Al Qaida are quickly filled, which is why it’s important to combat the ideology as well. In that respect, I question why it is a good thing to repeatedly tear down efforts to both safeguard this nation and attack this nation’s Islamist foes while suggesting Khalid Sheikh Mohammad’s statements were either coerced or simply made up. O’Donnell apparenty believes that’s the best way to present an alternative to Islamism among those who are being indoctrinated. Naturally this negates everything that O’Donnell said that is complete bunk, and her failure to comprehend the picture used in the newspaper she held up is from his capture, not his imprisonment.
