40 years ago today, 14 Arab nations pushed that button to no avail. Read how time magazine reported the 6-day war here.
It is fascination how the mainstream press recognized the existential threat faced by the tiny nation back then, because of the perception of the persecuted Jewish underdog vs. the gang of Arab bullies. Notice how Arabs living on the territory occupied by Israel after the war were never referred to as "Palestinians"

Because of the wealth and military prowess obtained by Israel since that time, coupled with economic stagnation of the Arab world and Arafat's brilliant subversion of the media to invent Palestinian Nationalism from thin-air, we now witness a situation where Marxist-academia trained journalists report another "David vs Goliath" episode, except this time David is the Philistine and Goliath is the Jew. Therefore the Philistines must be right.

Excellent point Jimmy the Dhimmi. I don't understand the media. It's like they get behind everything that is wrong in this world. After Israel's display in Lebanon LAST Summer, I worry that Israel's present leaders do not have the 'right stuff' to pull Israel out of this situation. I talk to Israelis and many of them feel the same way.

Michael Rosenburg, columnist for the Detroit Free Press, recently said that the purpose of modern journalism was to "afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted; then, after the afflicted become comfortable, afflict them again. This should provide an endless supply of news stories."
