A headline from the Times of London: ‘Muslim world inflamed by Rushdie knighthood.’
Yeah, so what else is new? The mythical ‘Muslim world’ is upset at something done in another country and takes the streets to burn flags.
You know, I’d love to own a flag shop in Pakistan. There’s much profit to be had at the expense of idiots wielding cans of lighter fluid or petrol within an empty two-liter bottle of Pepsi (see other photos). Of course the shop would sell that too.
I haven’t a clue why Rushdie was knighted, but if Elton John can be, why not Rushdie? Heck, why can’t I fly across the pond and get knighted?
Perhaps more disturbing is that during the same protest in which the above photograph was taken, one sign reads in part, “Curse Against Satan.” Seriously, who protests against Satan?

The more the “Muslim world” acts like animals, the more they are treated like animals - which is exactly what they want. It is an exploitation of what Bruce Thorton calls “Third-worldism” that is prevalent amongst the western left. The perception that exotic, dark-skinned denizens of impoverished countries are like animals in a nature documentary. Don’t disturb them in their natural habitat or they might bite you.
It is like that filmaker who was eaten by bears. No one blames the bears because they are mere beasts whos behavior is governed by instinct. In fact, the filmaker was to blame because of his deliberate agitation. So it is amongst elite, academically trained, liberals and their so called expertise in human sociology. The weaker socio-economic classes in society have been denied too much wealth and education to fully understand the nuances of moderation and self-discipline. Like starving dingos snatching babies, the oppressed proletariat will often lash out unreasonably at their masters in despiration. But of course the oppressor’s behavior is the root cause.
To the Left, even “moderate muslims” are what Tim Blair refers to as “terrorist forming insects,” who can only react to stimuli and will metamorphasize into bloodthirsty terrorists because of some offense that we have done to them, like the war in Iraq, support for Israel, drawing cartoons, or knighting Salman Rushdie.
This childish vision of humanity is exactly what Muslim radicals want, because the solution becomes more capitulation to their demands - creeping sharia law and the cessation of the persecution of jihadists, which will enable the eventual Muslim Hegemony they seek. It is like demanding the stoppage of suburban sprawl to protect the habitat of some endangered species. Even womens rights activists avoid adressing issues like the burqa, wife beating, and female genital mutilation in the muslim world in fear of stimulating the wild beast with western ethnocentrism.
The problem is, of course, that Mulsims as well as every other “third worlder,” are human beings. They have the same rights and responsibilities of everyone else, and therefore, their actions must be judged with the same universal standard that the left places on white people and Jews.

Rushdie( who’s also a moslem) who humiliated Islam and islamic teaching got his knighthood from the Queen (?) if cares for a few moment to trace her blood line that leads to the prophet Mohammed…. making my sentence like this : “The Queen honored the one who has humiliated her ancestor “

Yes, Timothy Treadwell, aka Grizzly Man. The film is great too if you like nature documentaries, but also because it shows the derangement of Treadwell and you get to hear the loopy defense of a man pitching tent in the middle of a Grizzly Bear den and wondering why he was eventually eaten alive. By the way, because I assume you’ve seen it, did you not think he was gay until you heard he actually had a female significant other who was killed with him? To me that was the most shocking twist to the entire story.
Other than that, I’ve got nothing to add to a well reasoned argument.

I actually didn’t see it, but thatnks for spoiling the ending! J/K, I have read about this guy, but there was no mention of his gayness. However, big, hairy gay guys are sometimes refered to as “Bears” (so I’ve heard **cough**).

Hah! You had me going there for a moment, but then I realized you referenced him in the first place so you had to know who he was and what happened to him.
Treadwell was just, well, flamboyant and feminine. There’s one scene in the film where he’s playing with an animal and that really shows through. Very odd guy, but the footage of the bears in their natural habitat was very cool.
Check it out if that’s your sort of film.
