A proud day for us all. This site has been banned in China.

It must have been all of that talk encouraging the Chinese people to pick up a fork and chew the fat over talk of a mass revolution to overthrow Communist China, except, well, I’ve very rarely even write anything about China. The very few times I’ve mentioned China has been in their support of Iran’s nuclear program.

But we’re banned, so in retaliation, I pledge to not eat fried rice and sweet and sour chicken for one week. Pray for me.

I’ve added Sphere to the site which will cull the site’s archives for related content as well as provide related content from other sites.  It’s a neat little tool and I hope you all enjoy it.

There’s still some tweaking to do, but I’ve been extremely busy on my end so that tweaking will have to wait.

It’s up, finally, though there’s still some things that need fixing. Notably the header is not showing up. I might get to it later tonight, but I’m beat after spending most of the day downloading and uploading old database files trying to get them to import.

UPDATE: Yeah, so I’ve got to get the header working, though I still need to mess with its size. Later, or never. That’s the surprise you’ve got when I’m running things.

Another month, another server switch.  Domain propagation will last through Saturday evening, and you may see the full site and this post or you may see an error page in the meantime.

The full system will be restored Saturday night, but in the meantime I’ll be blogging at Say Anything so feel more than free to stop by for a visit.

Yes, I’m fully aware the site has been experiencing difficulties and I have contacted my host to try to sort it out.  Please bear with us.

I’ve been able to migrate all old posts and comments to the new server, but I have lost all old links. Those will take some time to rebuild.

A major problem I had was being able to upload my old database to the new server due to its size. No more with ‘BigDump.’ I wish I had seen that file earlier because I was trying to split an xml file, split a sql file or any other number of options. I was afraid all archives would be lost.

UPDATE: I found my links.  They just had to be sorted.  It’s amazing how many links are no longer active.  It makes me feel like I’ve done this thing (blogging) for too damn long since so many bloggers have come and gone so fast.

Any links I’m missing?  What should I add?

I’ve still got to work on the headlines, but I may do so at my earliest convenience since I’ve got some work to do now and the Dallas Stars game is during the day tomorrow.

As some of you may have noticed, I am switching web hosts and planned on making the full switch over the weekend.  However, it appears as if my new host has started trying to take over the domain which may cause the site either not to load or to load incorrectly.

Thank you for everyone who had sent me an email to let me know the site was down last night. I was fully aware it went down around 8:00 p.m. CST, but I did not check back until today based on doing other things. And besides, I wasn’t going to sit around the computer and wait for it to come back online.

My host, Hosting Matters, noted there was a cut in one of the line tracing back to . . . . I’ll spare you the technical details, and I don’t exactly understand them enough to explain it anyways.

Anywho, we’re back up and again, I appreciate the emails I received in my inbox today.

After 102 votes in the last poll question, I’ve decided to come up with a new question.

You are asked: ‘Who would you vote for in the Republican primary?’

While not every answer has declared he is running (Newt Gingrich), that’s my personal favorite so he’s got to be in there.  It was either Newt or Mark Steyn, and Steyn is a Canadian so he can’t run.

. . . just to be nominated, but I’ve got to say Jim has done more to help me out with the coding on this site than I have done.  I typically just mess things up and call in the cleaner.
